Hatching New Strategies
Dear friends:
This is a stressful and uncertain time for us all and I hope you and the people you love are all well. Staying safe and remaining healthy is our first priority as we adapt to new routines and new ways of working.
Challenges can create opportunities, and as we wait for the day we can all gather again at a Read650 public event, know that we remain strongly committed to fulfilling our mission to “promote established and emerging writers through curated live and digital performances celebrating the spoken word.” We’re exploring and developing new ways to do that every day.
While sheltering in place this past month, I’ve worked a great deal on beefing up Read650’s social media presence, and with help from our editorial team, we’re publishing a new volume of nearly three dozen “mother” stories from an extraordinary group of writers. On Mother’s Day—Sunday, May 10—we’ll be using some new tools to present a selection of those stories online as the writers perform their work from home.
Because of you, Read650 has been able to pivot and forge ahead with these and other initiatives that serve our community as well as our mission, and your support and continued good wishes mean a great deal to me. Please know how much I appreciate the members of our community who’ve recently reached out with words of encouragement, reminding me that the work we do together is more important now than ever.
Continue to stay safe, and stay in touch.
With warm regards,
Edward McCann • Founder & President, Read650
