Hemingway, Gender, and Identity

Register now for a special event at 7PM Thursday, March 11, co-hosted by PBS, WNET, and The Center for Fiction. Filmmakers Ken Burns and Lynn Novick (The Vietnam War), poet and memoirist Mary Karr (The Liars’ Club; Lit: A Memoir), writer and professor of English at NC State Dr. Marc K. Dudley, and freelance arts and culture writer for the New York Times Lisa Kennedy gather virtuallyl to celebrate the upcoming release of Hemingway, a new three-part documentary series that spotlights the life, art, biases, and limitations of American literary giant Ernest Hemingway.

This panel will focus on the themes of gender and identity in Hemingway’s life and work in the form of an in-depth conversation moderated by Kennedy and interspersed with short clips from the documentary series. There will be a short Q&A to conclude the discussion. Register here.
