Live Events Return!
After many months away from the stage, we're excited to announce plans for six live shows at City Winery's beautiful new flagship location in New York City—cabaret style events where we can enjoy food and drink along with great stories while adhering to Covid safety protocols. The first in this series of 2PM Sunday matinees is January 9, so save the date and stay tuned for details!
The submission deadline for TIME is 12/1
The alarm is ringing! It’s time to write about ...TIME. Are you running late? On time or a day early? In 650 words, tell us about that flight, the grandfather clock, those church bells, the marathon, the curfew, or the temp job where time stood still. What about your first wrist watch, working overtime, daylight savings, or jet lag? Please start writing, because times-a-wasting. Share your story by midnight on December 1.
This Week’s Podcast: “Holidays”
A five-year-old girl holds a gun at a Thanksgiving turkey shoot; a seven-year-old boy drinks beers at a family gathering; and a stand-up comic works a challenging New Year's Eve gig in...Alaska. This week's show features original true stories about Holidays from Angela Derecas Taylor, John Pielmeier, Jennifer Rawlings, and Paul Hostovsky. • To receive the series directly to your phone or smart speaker, subscribe wherever you get your podcasts: Spotify, Amazon, Audible, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, Apple Podcasts or Google Podcasts.
We’re Here for You
Our volunteer team and the writers we feature have kept the wheels turning—and the words coming—throughout the pandemic and the uncertainty of these last many months.
We thank you for all your kind support of our weekly podcast and your encouragement to resume our popular stage events — shows crackling with the energy of a live room and the exchange between performer and audience.
You help us present those performances, you help bring community together and you inspire other writers to share their stories.
Your gift today will help support our long-term mission to promote digital and live performances celebrating the spoken word. We are so grateful for all that you do.
You make everything we do possible, and we can't do it without you!
