My American Song
A Carnegie Hall Festival Partner Event: “United in Sound: America at 250”
"Our country's soundtrack is made up of everything from salsa to gospel to jazz... Every one of us carries our own American song."
Join us for an afternoon of compelling, original personal essays that explore the music woven into the fabric of the American experience. From the melodies of our ancestors to the anthems of our protests, Writers Read presents a curated cast of writers sharing the songs that define who they are.
There is no such thing as one "American Song." You can hear our collective soundtrack in city parks, at Southern barbecues, on street corners in New Orleans, and everywhere in between.
In this special live performance, our writers take the stage to answer the question: What is your American song?
Live Event: 2PM-4PM June 14, 2026 at Theater 555 • Wine reception (included) follows.
