Sick!
True Short Stories About Illness, Recovery, and More
A collaboration with Bellevue Literary Review
Everyone has that one medical story—the one you find yourself telling again and again: The diagnosis that blindsided you. The emergency room adventure. The symptoms that baffled five doctors. The insurance battle that lasted longer than your illness. The childhood story about chicken pox or faking a temperature to get out of school.
As part of the Bellevue Literary Review’s 25th anniversary year, we’ll present medical stories to make you laugh, cry, rage, or find unexpected hope (or grace) in our messy, shared human experience. Join us for an afternoon poignant, funny, provocative, heartening, even troubling medical stories, told in 650 words.
Live Event: 1pm Sunday, February 1, 2026 at City Winery NYC
