A Remembrance

I'm thinking today about three Irish-American writer friends we lost this past year: Jack O'Connell, Brendan Costello, and Malachy McCourt.

St. Patrick's Day seemed an especially appropriate occasion to spotlight their talents—and to hear their voices once again. -- Ed

ABOVE: Writers Colin Broderick, Jack O'Connell, and John Gredler awaiting their turns on stage at our "Straight Outta Ireland" event at City Winery NYC. That performance in March, 2019 was part of Carnegie Hall's largest citywide festival to date — Migrations: The Making of America.

"The End of the Parade" is the piece Jack presented at our "Straight Outta Ireland" event.

"Last Call at Freddy's" was Brendan's contribution to an event called "At the Bar." (Don't miss Dan Barry's piece about Brendan in the New York Times).

Malachy—who never stopped poking fun at the very idea of death—shared "Every Breath You Take" at our "Gratitude" event, presented at the New York Public Library for the Performing arts at Lincoln Center.
